The only violin shop you need to visit in Vienna! Visited a number of others who were either closed or didn't meet expectations. Yelp showed this shop as #1, so visited it. Had a TERRIFIC experience! The owners are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable - well connected in the collector community and music scene (both locally and internationally). As an experienced performer looking for high-end instruments, they did not disappoint. One beautiful, smooth-sounding Italian violin was well priced @ 70K USD, another German @ 20K USD, played all using a 13K bow. (They have a nice range of student violins, celli and other instruments as well, and extremely nice sounding newer instruments). Forget about the fake reviewers who say that this shop only sells manufactured violins from Asia - Blue Danube is the real deal, connoisseurs of fine violins and the nicest people you could meet. I had my uncle's violine form the 1920ies and no one to play this wonderful instrument. Blue Danube Violins did some minor repairs which were necessary and sold the violin for me. Everything was so easy and went perfectly well, I had nothing to do. And I know that some musician is enjoying that beautiful violin. Thank you Blue Danube Violins.
I have recently bought a violin bow 4/4 for my daughter in Serbia. Thank you! What a great team! Absolutely professional and most friendly people. Quick responses to all my e-mails. This is the perfect place to buy a quality violin. We were going to be in several cities and contacted many shops via email from the US and Anthony and Elena who own Blue Danube Violins were by far the most responsive and helpful and set up an appointment for us to visit their shop while in Vienna. We sent our requirements for a violin and they had several beautiful, professional violins ready for our daughter to try. The shop is in a convenient location and is very quiet and clean. Just a great experience. Bought an 18th century violin but they had many to choose from including new. Great price and had all of the certificates of authentication. Anthony and Elena are both very knowledgeable and friendly and speak excellent English. Several local musicians stopped in while were there for string changes, etc so you could tell they are well-respected in Vienna. Excellent experience!
I am delighted by the quality of service of the store. I am a professional violin and viola player and I finally had the opportunity to find an amazing 600 bow clearly competing with any bows I tried in 10 years, including several 5000 bows... No need to say that I bought it right away! :) This is the asset of Blue Danube Violins : they are well connected and can manage to find or salvage wonderful instruments for a price you would never encounter with regular luthiers. I can also testify of the genuine dedication of Anthony, the owner, to meet the needs and expectations of each of his customers. This shop has my highest recommendation.
Very good store. There are large selection of violins for every taste in different price categories. Almost every day there are new arrivals. I want to thank the friendly owners of the store for their attention. I had the opportunity to play on various instruments for 2,5 hours.
I very warmly recommend the master classes and the competition organized by blue Danube impresario. The artistic direction of Blue Danube is very professional, very warm, human with a great knowledge of music, the organization is excellent and the conditions at the top to improve. I also recommend the competition who is very serious and reliable. The teachers are the best !
