Beware! It's Friday 16:00. We had a car reserved and the guy (a certain Herr Koln) is nowhere to be found. He just hung up the phone wirh no explanation after asking him repeatedly why he is not in his office although he should be.

DO NOT, I repeat! DO NOT EVER rent a car from this dump. If I could I would leave zero stars. Hertz in America would NEVER do this. All employees that work here must have been brainwashed by their employer to scam every and anyone. Absolute worst rental experience ever. I will contact Corporate about their shenanigans. Again, DO NOT rent a car from this place!!!!!

Amazing. so many 1 star reviews and complaints of bad experiences and bad business practices going back 2 years...and still nothing has changed..even the canned email responses from Hertz Austria. Must mean management approves of the practices at this location. Have cancelled our pending reservations for 4 weeks, in April....looking for a reputable car rental company to use for multi week 1 way rental from Vienna to Amsterdam. If anyone can recommend, please share via posting a 1 star review with details here. Obviously no one at Hertz reads or cares about what we post here, so please use this as a message board to help former Hertz customers find better companies to rent from in Vienna and better locations. No one at Hertz will care....this will truely help us all. Who treats you well and honestly when you rent ? Thanks

Do NOT book with Hertz! When we returned our car the agent very meticulously inspected our car, walking around it several times, looking for a damage to be able to charge on us. He finally found one at the driver's door, so minor and small that you had to look twice to see it. When we claimed that it could not have been us because we parked the car in a garden with open space. They argued that we should have reported the damage when taking over the car. But again, it is so small that we would never see it, so how should we have reported it. The agent only replied that he was doing his job and he had to report it. Reading the other reviews confirms the impression that our bad experience with Hertz is a standard procedure they apply. Look for a damage, claim it is the client's fault because he did not report it at the beginning and charge a horrendous amount, which adds to their revenue for the rental. We can only discourage everyone from renting from them! There are so many serious rental companies out there, there is no need to do Hertz. Hertz will now reply with their standard message "Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Please contact our customer service." We already did, there was no outcome.

I just cancelled my reservation thanks to all the previous reviewers! Hertz needs to get serious and investigate this location’s business practices. What a tarnish to its brand!

Absolutely terrible experience. Picked up the car from Vienna airport with numerous large scratches already documented and returned it at this Innenstadt branch. The agent inspected the car extremely meticulously and picked out a scratch in the paint and two focal indentations on the INNER surface of the left rear door, that were not recorded on the initial contract. She proceeded to tell me I was responsible for these damages since I didn't report them at the start, and said it was my own fault that I didn't get the full insurance cover. Had a heated exchange with her by the roadside - me claiming these damages were not inflicted during my rental and her claiming that they must have been since there was no documentation of them being there before. Ultimately she conceded that she believed I didn't inflict the damages but that she was merely doing her job in reporting (or else she could get into trouble with her boss later on). Made me sign a form to acknowledge these damages and 3 days later Hertz sent me an invoice for over 1,200 for these minor damages!! Absolute madness. This place/company is a scam. These are minor damages that any other rental company (esp in the USA or UK) wouldn't even bat an eyelid at. Will be contesting these ridiculous charges.

I am a regular customer of Hertz and take his cars in all countries. I planned to take the car here, but was struck by the indifference of the local Hertz to the reviews posted here. There are the same excuses for every review! And employees of the local branch do is scary. I don’t want to get a bill for 1200 euros in excess at the end of the trip and it’s better to go by train. Especially considering that before the new year one day the possibility of booking several classes of cars at once disappeared. It is very similar to the methods for increasing profit already described here, because during this period it is more profitable to sell a rental without booking. But Hertz will lose regular customers with such methods!
