I'll begin by saying that the watches Holzkern has available are beautiful, BUT (yes, there's a but..) please carefully consider purchasing one before you spend the money. I bought a watch, the River model, for my fiance for Christmas 2020. The watch arrived quickly, but after presenting it, we discovered that the watch does not fit properly. The bracelet is either is too tight, or it spins on his wrist if we add a link back in. Additionally, the wood material makes the watch easily scratched and damaged, and the screwdrivers that are included to adjust the bracelet are too large for the holes, resulting in damaged links. I reached out to Holzkern to see if they had half-links to help achieve the proper fit, and their response was that their watches should be 'worn a little loosely' and to advise me to purchase a strap instead. Worn a little loosely is different than having the watch spin on your wrist. A lot of the appeal in their watches lies with the wood bracelet - it makes them unique. Replacing that with a strap defeats a lot of the intention of the watch. After asking if they could do any better on finding a solution for me, Holzkern offered a discount on a strap from their store. Otherwise, I could return the watch, but would need to pay for expensive international shipping in order to get a refund. It's cost prohibitive for me to return the watch, especially in times when COVID doesn't guarantee prompt deliveries (or that packages will even reach their destinations). Suffice it to say, I encourage you to carefully consider the potential fit before spending a lot of money on a watch that might not work for you. **Edited, Holzkern did reach out to me to offer a strap from their store for free, in order for my fiance to be able to wear his River watch. It arrived quickly and promptly, and he can now wear it comfortably (although we still are bummed that the wooden bracelet did not work out for him). I appreciate their effort to make things right.
I was gifted a watch from Holzkern bought on the Munich store. At the first time I did not have a very good experience. The watch broke after a year and being used quite a few times. However, I had a very good experience with the customer support team. Even though I had some problems with the warranty, the helped me replace the broken watch and also it looks like they improved their design, it is nicer than the one I had altough it is the same model. I would say it is a bit pricey, but it worth giving it a try wether buying it for yourself or gifting someone.
