At first i was impressed with new station. But you need to make sure it is clean and taking care at all times.

Clean, nice, staff is friendly. Easy to get a coffee or quick meal before leaving. Purchased a post card and was able to send it as the the post office was just a few doors down. The trains are quick and on time. Easy to get to via bus. Bus station is right outside.
Offering numerous domestic as well as international connections, Salzburg Main Station is the most important rail hub in Western Austria.
There are station staff around the place to help tourists with questions and difficulties. They are more helpful and friendly than I have experienced anywhere else. The station has shops and restaurants and it is easy to navigate. Train tickets can be purchased from stewards on the train.
Central station of Salzberg to get all trains to Austria. The station is well planned with easy to find information and ticket kiosks. The staff. Is friendly and English speaking. One of the best part of the station is spar supermarket right inside the station with very liberal opening timings, very handy for travellers who reach at later hour or start too early.
Fine for day time transfers but at night it is unpleasant to be stuck here for any length of time. There are no comfortable rest areas. The only seating is in a cramped, hot, waiting room that was completely full when I got there. All shops, cafes and the first class lounge is closed. There are also homeless people that come in and ask for money if they see you in the atrium. It is a very beautiful building and kept very clean. I never felt unsafe, even sitting on the ground at 1am in the mostly empty main hall. In the future I will simply avoid late night layovers here.
Beautiful train station, Easy to use . Police should be more experience with international passports and visas!
