This is going back a while, but I visited the Hallein Mines when also visiting Salzberg (which also means "salt mountain" in English, BTW). I did the German speaking tour which really didn't worry me at all despite understanding very little. It's all great fun especially the slippery dips, crossing the "border" into Germany! The photos took quite a while to arrive at my Australian address as they were sent by surface mail, but that wasn't a big issue. If you don't mind a walk from the railway station it's about 3km through pleasant surroundings - or just take the local bus.

Perfect for a short trip with kids. Two old slides and everything is explained very good. You can even download some audios with an app to hear all explanation in several languages. Parking possibilities are good for small and big cars. the prices on the souvenir shop are a little bit high but they have to try to get some money from the tourist right?

Great day out for the family. My kids loved it. Wooden slide to go down a little boat ride accross a lake in a cave you can taste the salt brine that comes from the rocks its worth the visit

Unique experience. Learn about the history of Austria’s salt mines. At the same time it is a bit of an adventure with the train ride, slides and boat ride. Children, as well as adults, will have a great time. Book in advance (2 days in summer season), because the available spots will fill up quickly.

Very cool experience where you can see the oldest tourist mine in the world. In this you will go deep into an old mine, slide down traditional miners slide, taste brine, and ride a boat on a body of water in the mine. It's cool and the tour guide does a very good job! The slide is very fun!!!

The first salt mine to Welcome tourists. Well kept. The guide was really good. Parking available free of cost. You can also book slots online.

You basically pay 31 euro to slide on two slides (which is great fun), ride a pontoon on an underground lake, and a mining train ride. You will learn nothing about the mining process really and the videos you are made to watch are very outdated and uninformative. It's ok. But not very good.
