A wild corner of the Eastern Alps with towering limestone walls, enchanted pine forests and quaint meadows full of wild flowers and curious cows. A few lifetimes worth of climbing, hiking and exploring is to be had here.

Such an impressive mountain range! I used to live only 1 hour away and never heard of it. But it's a gorgeous part of the Austrian Alps
2-3 hours road via car from Vienna, small entrance that easy to miss and you will travel forever looking for this Park :) In entrance you will find guides with a journey time and overview, it take from 3 to something like 8 hour walking, so prepare food, water, comfortable shoes if you suppose to walk whole distance. But if you don't want to go for long walking, at least come to first bridge (5-7 min from parking) and will find great, excellent, unbelievable view. There are no shopping, cafe area near entrance (March 2019), so bring supplies with you.
I love nature... And here not far away from Graz ( 1,5h) is a nice place! Mountains and rivers... Wow
Visited/passed through July 2018 It was quite a spectacle, coming up from Johnsbach riding in direction Lacken. Up a hill and around a corner the mountains showed themselves in all their might. Weather was great too. Didn't have time to explore much but rode a little on smaller roads. You won't regret it, if you take this route (and the weather is good) :)
Absolutely beautiful!!! Went on a six hour hike up the mountains and we didn't see another soul! Perfect place to get away from all the tourists and enjoy the beautiful landscape! We went early April so not sure if it gets busier during the summer months.....
Beautiful national park, with stunning scenery. Not as monumental as some parks in Tirol, but with MUCH less tourists. Great food everywhere at a very affordable price. Local hosts and restaurant owners were really nice to us anywhere we went. We will return!
A really great area. There is so much to do and see, starting with hiking, rafting and climbing. A lot of gorges to explore, caves and some of the greatest hiking areas in Austria.
