A great place to see and a good hike with beautiful views. The air is fresh and clean, the ambience is really relaxing and impressive. There's a really nice view of the fortress and a small castle/inn on top of the hill where you can catch your breath, eat some soup or just have some refreshments; definitely try the desserts. The walk in the woods is really nice and invigorating and you might even be able to see some squirrels along the way. Please be advised that the hike is a bit challenging so you'll need proper clothes, but at least you'll get a good workout.

Don't miss out on this gem in Salzburg. Nice little piece of nature with amazing views of this beautiful city. Got opportunity to get some peace and quite.

Amazing walk through the nature

Nice walk up to the hill, but will get dark after sunset. The Hohensalzburg Castle can be seen between the trees. Such a pity that further walk up to the hill can’t see the castle.

The joke 'If it's baroque, don't fix it' is a perfect maxim for Salzburg: the story-book Altstadt (old town) burrowed below steep hills looks much as it did when Mozart lived here 250 years ago. Beside the fast-flowing Salzach River, your gaze is raised inch by inch to graceful domes and spires, the formidable clifftop fortress and the mountains beyond. It's a backdrop that did the lordly prince-archbishops and Maria proud.

Quite the hike up to the viewing points, but certainly worth it. Come prepared for a lot of steps if you go a route from the the town.

Great view. And not too many tourists.
