Food is ok but the hut has become to big to keep a good vibe. Service is not wath you would expect of a austrian mountain hut.

The hut is very nice, the access is easy, only 7 km walk, nice view and tasty food.
Written during the Corona pandemic: the manager of this hut feels corona is a joke. While austria reintroduced masks in shops, we slept at this hut. There were no masks anywhere neighter desinfectant (one bottle), groups were combined into rooms without any physical barrier put in place. The gaststube, barely ventilated, was filled to the brim with people till late in the evening. Most people go with the flow: they arrive with their mask on hand and end up forgetting about Corona entirely. I sincerely hope we have not witnessed the beginning of a new outbreak, but can hardly believe it. The manager did arrange a separate room for us to eat, so in believe he is a friendly guy. The hut is beautiful but rather big.
Stayed overnight here on a Friday in the middle of a hiking trip. Everything was modern, clean and very professional. In high season, things are very busy so communal space in the restaurant is not always available. Note: this is really more of a hotel and restaurant set in the mountains. If you are expecting a rustic hut on the top of a mountain with communal meals, wrong idea. Definitely more groups and couples then individual hikers.
We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff spoke English which we were very grateful for, we liked the no shoes and changing into slippers after a long hike, the atmosphere was great and so was the food. One shower and bathroom per a floor with 2 euro coin needed for a few minutes of hot water, plan ahead!
We was on the Lindauer cottage 31. March, end of winter season, we had very beautiful Sunny day, very fast services, meal or some drink in one minute. We rent a sledges and it was very funny going to down about seven kilometres. Super day, super experience. And one man said the best winter season there is about middle march because more sunnydays and good snow conditions :)
Everything was delicious! The hike up is beautiful and the reward for doing it is this hut. Our lunch and dessert was possibly the best I've had so far! I had the dumpling soup and the mixed salad. Both were amazing! My friends had a mix of things and also loved what they ordered. Make sure you have a dessert too! If you haven't tried germkKnödel you need to try it here.
