The Pferdeschwemme is one of the two preserved horse \baths\ in Salzburg's old town. In the middle of the fountain is a large sculpture of a prancing horse. Just behind the fountain is half a dozen horse themed murals. All of this is at the base of Mönchsberg cliff walls as a spectacularly backdrop. Highly photogenic
The whole background is so great.
Starting point for walk towards Slazburg old city. There various bus connections to take you outside city and towards airport. There are number of restaurants as one go along the path towards Old Town.
A but barren landscape. Not a priority if u have short time
Everything is Salzburg is amazing. Fairytale wonderland.
What a special location at which to enter Salzburg by local bus. Not easy to get photos, though, with all the vehicular traffic. Be patient, and get a prize pic to share with others at home.
A funny place to know and see when you pass by. Riccha driver told us that this place was used to wash archbishop's horses. He joked that in those days horses had better life than some people. We thought it was really funny.
