When visiting Wien, this museum is a must-see! I personally loved the rocks, minerals, and meteorite halls and seeing the Venus of Willendorf was spectacular. I've been here several times and it can be quite crowded during the peak tourist season. Loo

One of the best museums I have ever visited. The collection is very rich and various - from unliving matter (minerals etc.) to microorganisms, insects, vertebrates (prepared in formalin, stuffed or just pinned down). There are interactive exhibitions for older and younger visitors. I was surprised to discover its richness after reading opinions on google maps.

A lot of nice things to explore. They have a huge variety of natural minerals and gem stones, which is great. My favorite was the stone age collection because they explain it in a nice way. Good for all ages and kids will love it a lot.

Went to see the special exhibition on food waste. Quite interesting and eye opening. It will make you want to reduce your waste

This place is a worthy visit but there were some drawbacks. It is basically a huge collection of things, so there is no continuous science story, it is a huge valuable storage of masterpieces for different fields of natural sciences, therefore the experience is quite cumbersome and tiring, especially in a hot summer day because there is no airco. The use of masks was not mandatory or reinforced. What I found very interesting is that original Maria Theresa ordered this building for the purpose of this museum and that means that the beautiful architecture in the ceilings is about natural science symbols all the way, so this is not an antique political building that was turned into a museum as it's often the case in other countries, the building itself was very entertaining

Absolutely worth the price of admission. Two HUGE floors that are mind blowing. The gems and minerals alone took us 90 min to rush through. The taxidermy sections of the birds and insects was beautifully done. The dinosaur fossils were presented well and frankly more than I expected from a small museum here in eastern Europe. Make sure to use your discount from the Tourist Pass Card if you have it. Even the cafe was reasonably priced.
