This is a famous opera venue and concert hall. In corona times, the management did absolutely everything to ensure audience safety and deserve all praise. The opera production of Mozart's Cosi was excellent with fabulous soloists and the miraculous Vienna Philharmonic.

I would love to experience this opera house without corona-limitations. The Cosi fan tutte production on August 12th had everyone entering with a mask and sitting one seat apart without an intermission. The house is beautiful and the sound carries very well from the stage, filling the space clearly. The performance itself missed its mark - the \costumes\ if you could call it that, were black office-wear. It felt as though the performers just finished their day at the office and came straight to perform. With a piece dating from 1790 you expect period-oriented costumes as you try to go back in time to imagine the performance of the piece in the past. At times I had to close my eyes from the lack of color - a brightly lit white stage and these black office clothes. Ehh. I was really hoping for a classical look and feel that accompanies being in Salzburg, a small and quaint city that holds so much old-world charm. It's such a pity that classical pieces are modernized, because the opera should remain classy, especially when you pay a high ticket price.
Excellent concert on 16 February by French National Orchestra. However, the hall is a \bit dated\ by current international standards. The seats need to be staggered to give concert goers a better view of the orchestra.
Depends on the concert, of course, but usually great! However, there are no lifts, you have to walk up the stairs, not so great with my brother in law who is 69 years of age
